INTRODUCTION
That day when I issued this recipe: Hot Plate Egg Tofu (铁板豆腐). I stumbled across a few homemade egg tofu recipes and that making me wanted to try. If you want a recipe, you can click on the picture below.
I read the recipe and I found that it is extremely using 3 ingredients and I therefore decide to try it today. The outcome exceed expectations and definitely a recipe keeper. It is soft yet firm , aromatic and can easily churn out into any dishes.
I do not think that I need to explain anything about this egg tofu as this is very common and you can easily purchased from the supermarket at very reasonable price.
In fact, homemade is not cheaper than the store bought but homemade gives house chefs a sense of accomplishment and at least we know what are the ingredients we put in the preparation.
The recipes uses only salt, eggs and soya bean milk. The only thing i need to highlight is that you must greased your tray very well. Otherwise it will stick to the baking tray.
WHAT IS REQUIRED
Servings : A square tray of 7” x 7” egg tofu
- 6 eggs (about 300 grams)
- 450 ml or grams of non-sweetened soya bean milk
- Pinches of salt
STEPS OF PREPARATION
- Line the steaming tray with aluminium foil and heavily grease the foil with cooking oil.
- Put the salt, eggs and soya bean milk in a bowl, beat thoroughly until well combined . I have used an immersion blender to do the job but you can use hand to do the beating too. Sift the egg solution into the greased tray and steamed using medium heat for about 15-20 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre of the egg tofu comes out clean. Timing will depend on the thickness of your egg tofu.
- Cool completely before slicing into desired sizes. You can eat as it is or churn in any dishes that called for egg tofu.
CONCLUSION
A very short post and I did not regret preparing this. In fact, my kids could not differentiate if it is homemade or store bought. May be you want to give it a try? Lastly, personally, I believed that homemade soya bean milk is still the best , if you are preparing soya bean milk, reserved some for this tofu..
