INTRODUCTION

It is my style to share festival recipes ahead of time and Chinese New Year is less than 2 months from now.. I believed that I should blogged earlier such that readers can have more choices in recipe selection.

This is a new recipe and I have tasted this recipe in Malaysia during the last Chinese New Year. It is milky and my kids enjoyed it very much. If you are an Oreo biscuits fan, you can go ahead and give it a try. It is crispy and texture blends well with the texture of Oreo cookies.

You can design any shape that you liked and for this illustration, i have decided to use irregular round shape. I hope this will not deter reader from trying. You can always shape in flat to make it crispier and reduce timing of the cookies.

WHAT IS REQUIRED

Oreo Milky Biscuits (Oreo 奶香饼干)

  • 100 grams of Oreo biscuits, take away filling and crushed
  • 150 grams of butter , at room temperature
  • 100 grams of icing sugar
  • 70 grams of egg white
  • 250 grams of cake flour or top flour or low protein flour
  • 100 grams of milk powder
  • 10 grams of corn starch or potatoes flour (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • Additional milk powder

STEPS OF PREPARATION

  • Pre-heat the oven to 150 degree Celsius

  • Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg whites and beat until well combined. Sift in the milk powder, baking powder and cake flour, add the crushed Oreo biscuits, use the machine’s lowest speed to stir a few times until well combined.

  • Take one teaspoon of batter, slightly shape round and drop into the milk powder. Roll in the bowl and transfer to the baking tray. Bake the biscuit in the pre-heated oven of 150 degree Celsius for 20-25 minutes until the cookies are crispy. The timing will depend on individual oven and size of the dough ball.

Note:

  • Beside this ball shape, you can also shape it into flat shape. Timing of baking will reduce and it will be easier to become crispy.

CONCLUSION

This is my first Chinese New Year cookies recipe that does not have a beautiful shape. Initially, I have rejected the issuance of such recipe for Chinese New Year since Asians in generally are very particular  with the cute and beautiful design of the cookies. Since I saw a number of cookies recipes also have such a shape, I have therefore decide to share one irregular shape cookies for Chinese New Year. Once again, do give it a try if you like Oreo biscuits.
